Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to share that a valued and beloved member of our school community is currently facing a serious illness. While we respect the privacy of the staff member and their family, we recognize that many students, families, and staff may be aware of the situation and may be feeling concern, sadness, worry, or uncertainty.
At our school, we are family and are a caring school community. When someone who has touched the lives of our students and families faces a significant health challenge, the impact is felt throughout our community. Children may have questions or emotional reactions that vary based on their age, understanding, and relationship with the staff member. These responses are normal, and we encourage families to create opportunities for open, honest, and age-appropriate conversations at home.
Our counseling and support staff are available to assist students who may need additional support during this time. Teachers and staff have also received guidance to help them respond compassionately and appropriately to student questions and concerns. We will continue to monitor students' emotional well-being and provide support as needed.
In an effort to ensure that our families have access to the best available resources, we are partnering with the Traumatic Loss Coalitions for Youth (TLC), a statewide network coordinated through Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care that supports schools, families, and communities in addressing serious illness, grief, trauma, and other significant life events affecting children and adolescents. The TLC provides resources that help families support children through difficult circumstances and build resilience during times of uncertainty.
During this challenging time, please keep our colleague and their loved ones in your thoughts. Acts of kindness, compassion, and understanding can make a meaningful difference for those facing serious health challenges.
At Newgrange School, we believe that during times of uncertainty, our strength comes from the care, compassion, and support we offer one another. By working together as families, educators, and community members, we can help our students feel safe, supported, and hopeful.
If you have concerns about your child or would like additional support, please contact the school at dmorris@thenewgrange.org or call 609-584-1800 x.0238. We remain committed to supporting the well-being of every student and family in our community.
Thank you for your partnership, compassion, and support.
Sincerely,
Dana Morris
Principal

💙 Yesterday the theme was Respect & Kindness in Action! Wearing blue as we celebrate the ways we can support one another at the Newgrange School.
Listen with care, lend a helping hand, and speak up for others. Every kind action helps make our school a place where everyone belongs.

Dear Friends and Families,
We are delighted to invite you to a truly special evening as The Laurel Education Group presents our Second Annual Fundraising Gala — the Golden Legacy Gala.
This year’s celebration holds an especially meaningful place in our hearts as we commemorate 50 years of excellence at The Newgrange School and honor the remarkable legacy of Dr. Gordon Sherman. The Golden Legacy Gala is an opportunity to celebrate that incredible history while also looking forward to the future of The Laurel Education Group and the students we will continue to serve.
Please join us Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 6:00–10:00 PM at the Trenton Country Club, 201 Sullivan Way, West Trenton, NJ.
We are thrilled to have meteorologist Scott Sincoff as our host for the evening, with entertainment from magician George Gee.
Tickets are $150 per person, and tables of eight are available for $1,500. There are also opportunities to sponsor individual tickets or tables, become an event sponsor, or purchase an advertisement in support of The Laurel Education Group.
We hope you will celebrate this milestone with us and help us continue building a legacy that will impact students and families for generations to come.

Corn was the backbone of the New England colonies! Beyond being a vital food source, settlers used every part of the plant, even crafting handmade dolls from husks for children to play with. A true testament to colonial resourcefulness.
Our fifth graders in Mrs. LaZaro’s class enjoyed making their own corn husk dolls!
